THE COREL ARTVIEW SCREEN SAVER
==============================
The ArtView screen saver displays a range of pictures on the
screen when the computer is idle. The pictures are retrieved
from a CD and displayed in random order.
When you want to use your computer, press any key on the keyboard
or move the mouse. ArtView stops displaying pictures and Microsoft
Windows removes it from memory.
HOW THE SCREEN SAVER WORKS
--------------------------
Once your computer has been idle for a period of time, Windows
loads the ArtView screen saver program. ArtView searches the system
for installed CD-ROM drives and makes a list of the drives' volume
labels. If no CD-ROM drives are found, ArtView checks the hard disk.
When all valid files are found, ArtView selects a file and
loads it into memory.
ArtView 1.0 accepts the following bit map file formats:
- Windows 3.0 BMP format (1, 4 and 8 bits per pixel)
- PCX format (1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 bits per pixel)
- GIF format (version 87a)
- PCD Kodak PhotoCD format
For ArtView to load a file, it must be smaller than 2MB (or
available memory) and larger than 64 pixels on a side.
You can configure the screen saver to specify
- the directories, by volume, that you want to include or exclude
from the viewer
- the length of time that you want each picture displayed
- whether pictures are displayed randomly or sequentially
- the drive to use if CD-ROM drives aren't installed. You can
specify local or network drives
- whether pictures fade in and out
- whether the file name is displayed on the screen with its picture
SETTING UP THE SCREEN SAVER
